The following events will be hosted by the Education Division of the Museum of Texas Tech University next week.  Join us.

The Birds can be seen in the HDJ Auditorium at 2 pm on May 17th.  There is no charge to view this Alfred Hitchcock film in which a wealthy San Francisco socialite (Tippi Hedren)  pursues a potential boyfriend (Rod Taylor) to a small Northern California town where the story takes a turn for the bizarre when birds of all kinds suddenly begin to attack people there in increasing numbers and with increasing viciousness.

Friday, May 18th, from 1-4 pm join Dr. Brian Ancell, assistant professor of Atmospheric Science for a demonstration of weather and science.  Free and fun for all ages!

Joel Sartore will lecture on May 18th at 6 pm in the HDJ Auditorium.  Mr. Sartore is known for his nature photographs that appear in National Geographic.

Visit the exhibition May 12 – July 21 RARE: Portraits of America’s Endangered SpeciesGallery 2. National Geographic contributing photographer and Nebraska native Joel Sartore has spent two decades on a mission to document North American species facing extinction. Sixty-nine of these animals and plants are profiled in the book and exhibition RARE: Portraits of America’s Endangered Species. The exhibition and the book serve as a poignant roll call of North America’s most endangered wildlife and an urgent call to action. The exhibition photographs are organized by number of living populations for each species; the exhibition will also examine the history, purpose and effectiveness of the Endangered Species Act of 1973.
