Sunday, January 8 at 2:30pm will be the first of four Sunday Storyteller programs, in conjunction with the exhibit Latin Folktales: Cuentos Populares, which features original illustrations by ten different artists, all published in bilingual children’s books. After the story there will be an activity related to what we read. Adults are asked to accompany the kids and stick around for the activity after the story.
Everyone is welcome to listen to the story, but the activity is limited to the first fifteen children, ages 4-10. Younger children will need adult supervision with the activity.
For our first story, we will read A Perfect Season for Dreaming / Un tiempo perfecto para soñar, written by Benjamin Alire Sáenz and illustrated by Esau Andrade Valencia. The book tells a story about an elderly man who has beautiful dreams where objects fall from pinatas in the sky, but is afraid to tell anyone because he doesn’t think they’ll understand. After the story we will decorate our own mini-pinatas.
